| 17:10:2008 | 03.30 | | Conwy River | Two drunken thieves were saved from being potential fatalities when they stole a dinghy from the beach on Conwy Quay and launched themselves into the river at 3.30 this morning.
A resident on the Quay heard the two men, in their early twenties, pushing the dinghy down the beach and called the Police and Coastguard who requested the launch of the RNLI Conwy Lifeboat.
Conwy’s Inshore Lifeboat, Arthur Bate 11, went in search of the thieves, who, without any oars or equipment, had by this time been swept downstream on the fast ebbing tide towards the open sea.
The empty dinghy was found on Deganwy Beach by the lifeboat’s volunteer crew were it had been deposited by the tide. The Police and Coastguard were greatly concerned that there may be two fatalities as the sea conditions were extremely rough and the dinghy could easily have been swamped.
Two men, in soaking wet clothes, were later located ashore by the Police but denied being involved and were subsequently released.
The Conwy ILB returned to the Boathouse where the boat was cleaned and refuelled ready for the next shout at 04.30.

| 13:10:2008 | 18.50 | | Up River from Glan Conwy | Conwy’s Inshore Lifeboat, Arthur Bate 11, went to the aid of six stranded fishermen last evening.
A member of the public who saw the 20 foot dayboat, Fleetwood Mac, aground on a sandbank 1 ½ miles upstream from Conwy Castle, alerted the volunteer crew at 18.40.
The Lifeboat was launched at 18.50 just as it was starting to go dark, to go to the aid of the six daytrippers from Prescot Merseyside, who had been stranded since Noon.
At 20.00 the incoming tide had risen sufficiently to enable the dayboat to float off the sandbank, it was then guided downstream in the dark by the Lifeboat which navigated through the moored boats and pontoons in the Harbour to the waiting pontoon outside Conwy Marina.
The owner decided to leave recovery of the boat onto its trailer until daylight today.
The Conwy ILB returned to the Boathouse where the boat was cleaned and refuelled ready for the next shout at 20.30.

| 30:09:2008 | 15.00 | F7 | Conwy River Estuary | Conwy Inshore Lifeboat Arthur Bate 11 and Llandudno Lifeboat Andy Pearce were both involved in a joint rescue this afternoon in the Conwy River Estuary.
A 50 foot Yacht, Predator, with three persons aboard, had attempted to moor alongside the waiting pontoon outside Conwy Marina when the strong near gale force winds blew the boat off the pontoon and a trailing rope wrapped itself around the propeller, two of the crew were left on the pontoon and one onboard.
The strong winds blew the boat sideways across the river towards Deganwy were it’s rudder became entangled around another boat’s mooring, which saved it from being driven onto the shore.
Conwy’s volunteer crew removed several small boats in the vicinity from their mooring so that the Llandudno Lifeboat could manoeuvre close enough to attach a towline and pull the yacht off the entangled mooring. (See photograph)
Once free both Lifeboats towed the yacht into Conwy Marina, Conwy ILB returned to the scene to re-unite the small boats with their moorings.
The Conwy ILB returned to the Boathouse where the boat was cleaned and refuelled ready for the next shout at 4 pm.

Conwy Harbour Launch, driven by one of the RNLI crew, retrieved the RIB which was careering around out of control and took it to the Beacons Jetty from were it had been launched.
The Lifeboat which had been launched was stood down whilst the casualty was taken on Penny Louise to Conwy Quayside were the RNLI volunteer crew took her ashore.
In the meantime Conwy RNLI had been in contact with the Welsh Air Ambulance, which was diverted and landed on Conwy Quay in front of the Harbour Office. (See picture) The Air Ambulance crew worked on the woman for about 30 minutes before transferring her to Bangor Hospital.
Thanks go to Mr & Mrs Quinn on Penny Louise and to the owner and crew of Little India for their quick actions and participation.
The Conwy ILB returned to the Boathouse where the boat was cleaned and refuelled ready for the next shout, which came within the hour.
Two adults and four children on board a 17 foot powerboat had contacted Holyhead Coastguard on a mobile phone saying they had broken down half a mile off Llandudno West Shore and required assistance.
The Volunteer Lifeboat crew were unable to locate the powerboat in the area reported, or contact it, as it did not have any other means of communication.
The boat and occupants, from Colwyn Bay, had managed to start the engine and they were subsequently located at the Beacons Jetty where they had gone ashore.
