Conwy Lifeboat gets early shout

Just after 4 o’clock this morning Conwy’s RNLI Inshore lifeboat was launched following a 999 call that an unmanned boat was floating about in Conwy Harbour.

The four man volunteer crew located the 8ft open rowing boat, belonging to two young men who had been fishing near to Conwy Marina, close to Llandudno Junction shore.

The lifeboat crew retrieved the boat and returned it to the two men who had swum   ashore by the Marina. They were advised not to attempt to row the boat across the river to Deganwy until it was daylight and they were both wearing lifejackets.

The lifeboat returned to station at 0500 hours where it was cleaned and refuelled ready for the next shout.

Conwy Lifeboat Station is situated on the town Quay in the historic town of Conwy. It has operated a service in Conwy for over 40 years.

The current lifeboat in operation is the D class lifeboat, D-627 Arthur Bate II which you can see in full flight in the picture above.
